Core concepts

Connect shows the same structured data as the rest of GIMLabs, read-only. A few concepts explain what you see.

Project#

A project is the site or investigation you have been given access to. Everything in Connect belongs to a project; if you have more than one, switch between them with the project switcher.

Table#

A table is a named block of data - Location Details, Samples, In-situ Tests. The sidebar lists the project's tables, each with a record count, and you read one at a time in the grid.

Location#

A location is a point of investigation - a borehole, trial pit or monitoring point. Most data belongs to a location, and a location can be marked complete (its hole status).

Record#

A record is one row of data - one location, one sample, one test. In Connect records are read-only: you can view and export them, never change them.

Geology#

Some tables can show a geology overlay - the geological description for each record's depth - when the project team has shared it.

Your access#

What you can see and do is set per contact by the project team: whether you can export, see the geology overlay and hole status, view media, see empty tables or only complete locations, and whether you see all tables or locations only. This is why your Connect may differ from another contact's.
