# Logs & Sheets

> Read a project's logs and sheets on screen, one location after another, and export them.

The **Logs & Sheets** page shows each location's log or sheet as it prints, one after another, so you
can read a whole project without exporting a PDF. From here you can also
[edit what the log shows](/manage/logs-and-sheets/editing-on-the-log),
[comment and mark it up](/manage/logs-and-sheets/comments-and-markup),
[work through its checks and flags](/manage/logs-and-sheets/checks-and-flags), and
[check and approve it](/manage/logs-and-sheets/checking-and-approving).

## Open the Logs & Sheets page

- Pick **Logs & Sheets** in the project's menu to see every location, or
- select rows in the [table editor](/manage/table-editor) and choose **Open log** (or
**Open N logs**) to see just those locations, in the order you picked them. A
sample or stratum row brings its location.

Each log is drawn as you scroll to it. When a location's data is edited elsewhere, its
log redraws the next time it is checked.

## The locations list

The **Locations** tab lists every location with what needs attention: validation
errors, warnings, flags and open comments, as counts beside its name. A page icon with
a red dot means the location has no template, so it isn't drawn or exported; its
tooltip says why.

Use **Filter** to show only locations with errors, with flags, or whose checks are out
of date. When locations have been edited since the last validation run, a note above
the list says how many, with **Show** to list them.

## Move between locations

- Click a location to open it on its own: the side panel shows its **Comments** and
  **Photos**.
- Press **]** for the next location and **[** for the previous, or use the arrows in
the panel's header. The back arrow returns to all locations.
- Scrolling the logs makes the location in view the current one.

## Template and scale

Above each log, the settings button shows its template and depth scale, and where
that setting comes from: this view only, the location, the project, or the
configuration. Open it to pick another **Template** (a log or a sheet), or set the **Depth** as a
scale (1:50) or as metres per page.

Driller **sheets** are offered too, under **Sheets**. A sheet is laid out by shift rather
than by depth, so it has no depth scale, and the parts of the page that follow depth
(commenting on a depth range, moving a stratum boundary, the depth check, and the
highlighter and revision cloud) don't apply to it. Everything else works on a sheet as on a log: picking a row or box, editing it,
comments, marks, flags, and checking and approving.

A change shows in this view only until you save it, for **This location** or for
every location of its type in the project (**All Borehole locations**, say). Saved settings are what Export PDF uses.
**Show every location like this** changes the view only.

## Zoom

The zoom menu at the right of the toolbar has **Zoom in**, **Zoom out**, **Fit** and
set sizes. **Ctrl +** and **Ctrl -** zoom, as does **Ctrl** with the scroll wheel;
**Ctrl 0** fits the page.

## Show and hide

**Show** (the eye on the toolbar) turns on and off what is drawn over the logs: lines
to comments, comments, markup, flags, check errors, and check warnings and advice.
Hiding only changes what you see: exports keep everything.

## Export

**Export** on the toolbar offers:

- **Clean PDF** - the logs as they print, for every location with a template. Save any
  view changes first.
- **Review copy** - a marked-up PDF of the location in view, with its comments listed;
or **Review copies** of every location with comments.
- **Comment register** - a CSV of every comment, flag and checked finding.

## Photos

With one location open, the **Photos** tab shows its photos from
[Media](/manage/media). Click one to see it larger with its details; use the arrow keys
to step through them.

## The tour

The first time you open the page, a card in the corner offers a short tour, done on
your own project: it starts from the location that most needs you, and waits while you
open it, click the log and start a comment. Afterwards **Your first steps** in the
corner ticks off as you go, until it's done or you close it. Take the tour or skip it
and it won't be offered again; **Take the tour again** at the foot of the keyboard
shortcuts (**?**) replays it.
