# Getting around

> The Projects list, opening a project, and the per-project rail of areas.

Manage is organised around **projects**. You pick a project from the list, and a
**rail** down the left gives you that project's areas. This page is a reference for
how it all hangs together.

## Projects

The first screen is your **Projects** list - every project you can access, with
search, sorting and paging. From here you open a project, and (with the right
permission) create or edit one. See [Projects](/manage/concepts#project) for what a
project carries.

## The project rail

Open a project and the left **rail** lists its areas. A **project switcher** sits
at the top so you can hop between projects without going back to the list.

| Area | What it is for |
| --- | --- |
| [**Table Editor**](/manage/table-editor) | Browse and edit the project's data in a grid. The main workspace. |
| [**Diary**](/manage/site-diary) | Site diary entries. |
| [**Map**](/manage/map) | Locations, boundaries and overlays on an interactive map. |
| [**Media**](/manage/media) | Photos and documents attached to the project. |
| [**Location Groups**](/manage/location-groups) | Named sets of locations for reporting and filtering. |
| [**Flags**](/manage/flags) | Records flagged for review, with priority and status. |
| [**Standards**](/manage/standards) | The standards referenced on the project. |
| [**Chain of Custody**](/manage/lab-workflow/chain-of-custody) | Records tracking samples to the laboratory. |
| [**Schedules**](/manage/lab-workflow/testing-schedules) | Laboratory testing schedules. |
| [**Imports**](/manage/importing-data) | Bring data in from AGS or CSV files. |
| [**Exports**](/manage/exporting-data) | Produce AGS, CSV and PDF outputs. |
| [**Connect**](/manage/sharing-with-clients) | Manage external client access to the project (if your company uses Connect). |

<Callout type="note" title="What you see depends on your role">
  The rail only shows the areas your **role** allows, so two users can see
  different rails. **Connect** appears only when your company has it enabled. See
  [Roles and permissions](/manage/sign-in-and-access#roles-and-permissions).
</Callout>

The [Table Editor](/manage/table-editor) is where most day-to-day work happens -
start there.
