# Overview

Log is the GIMLabs **mobile app** for capturing field data on phone and tablet -
online or offline. You open a project, drop into a location, and record your
locations, samples, strata and tests straight into structured data, with forms
that match exactly how your team works.

It is built for the people on site - drillers, engineers and geologists - who
need to capture data quickly and reliably, often with no signal, and have it flow
into the rest of GIMLabs the moment they are back online.

## Works offline

Log is **offline-first**. Once you have signed in and synced a project, you can
keep working with no signal - the app stores your data securely on the device and
syncs it to the cloud automatically when you are back online.

Log is where most project data is born. The locations, samples and test results
you capture here are the same records you refine in
