# Install and sign in

> Get the Log app on your device, sign in, and understand licences, sessions and offline use.

Log installs from the app stores and signs in with your GIMLabs account. It is
included on **every plan**, on both **Go** and **Pro**.

## Requirements

- An **iOS** or **Android** phone or tablet (iOS 12.2 or later; a current version
  of Android).
- A **GIMLabs account** at a company with an active subscription, and a **seat**
  on your company's plan. If you cannot sign in, your company administrator
  manages access.

## Installing

Search for **GIMLabs Log** on the **App Store** (iOS) or **Google Play**
(Android) and install it like any other app. The app checks for updates on the
store - see [updates](#updates) below.

## Signing in

    Sign in with your GIMLabs email and password, then tap **Login**. There is a
    **Forgot Password** link if you need it.

  "You have entered an invalid email or password" means the credentials did not
  match. Sign-in can also be refused if your plan has no free seats, your account
  has been disabled, or your session was ended on another device. See

## Seats and sessions

- Your access comes from your company's **subscription** (Go or Pro) - Log is
  included on both. Each active user takes a **seat** under that plan. It is the
  same seat that covers the other GIMLabs products you use, not a Log-only
  licence.
- A **session** is your current signed-in use of Log on this device. You have one
  active session per account, so signing in elsewhere can sign you out here. If
  every seat is in use, sign-in is refused until one frees up, and administrators
  can end a session remotely to free a seat. When that happens Log signs you out
  with a notice and you can sign in again.

## Offline use

Once you are signed in and a project has synced, Log works **without a signal**.
Your data is stored securely on the device and syncs automatically when you
reconnect. You only need internet to sign in, sync a new project, create or edit
projects, and preview a PDF log.

## Updates

New versions are released through the app stores. When an update is required Log
shows a notice - "A fresh update is now available on the store. Please update to
continue" - and you update from the App Store or Google Play before carrying on.

## Signing out

Open the side menu from the **Projects** screen and tap **Sign out**. Your
session ends and the app returns to the sign-in screen.
